Three all-day workshop sessions with the Sansoms in Manchester.

Create poems about summer from inspirational exercises and share them in a supportive atmosphere. Whatever the weather, we will write about summer using brilliant English poems and poems in translation and from other cultures. Working primarily in the education studio, we will also write around the world from art in the galleries. Three interlinked sessions (with optional homework) that can be booked separately.

One all-day workshop on Saturday 22nd July 10:30 – 16:00.

Peter Sansom, former Fellow in Creative Writing, Leeds University and Company Poet at both M&S and Prudential. He’s a director of the Poetry Business, co-editor of The North and Smith/Doorstop Books. Books include The Last Place On Earth, Carcanet, and Writing Poems, Bloodaxe.

Ann Sansom is a poet, playwright and tutor. She has published six collections of poetry; had work published in several Forward/Faber anthologies, Russian Vogue and a range of other publications; and has written and directed plays for stage and radio.

She is presently working with The British Film Institute on a series of commissioned film-related poems and is writing a screenplay for a further series of short films.

Ann is currently a regular tutor for WEA, Poetry Society and Arvon Foundation and has taught at Oxford, Leeds and Sheffield Hallam universities. She regularly works in schools and tutors at school writing residentials, teaching children of all ages and abilities, and has run a weekly writers’ workshop at Doncaster YWCA for twenty years. Ann is also a director of The Poetry Business, which publishes The North magazine and Smith/Doorstop books.

I really enjoy the level of stimulus at the Poetry School where all members of the class bring such a high level of knowledge about poetry and high quality poetry to the group.
