By accessing this website or booking a course or workshop you consent to the following terms and conditions of use.
COURSES & WORKSHOPS
Each activity has three prices listed. The first is the standard price. The second is the price for all people who are aged 60+. The third is the concessionary rate. Concessions are available for 25s and under, full time students, people receiving Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Universal Credit, Pension Credit, income-related ESA or those whose sole source of income is the state retirement pension. Please note that you may be required to provide proof of eligibility for our concessionary rates. Discounts do not apply on seminars, tutorials or Travelling Workshops.
Anyone booking a course or workshop with us for the first time is eligible for a one-off discount of 15% (phone bookings only).
If you are unsure of which price you should pay, please contact the office.
Changes to the advertised activities
All our programme details are correct at the time of publishing our printed programme, but we will inform students of any changes to the advertised programme as necessary. Poetry courses and workshops are dynamic activities, and advertised content may occasionally be adapted to take account of students’ needs.
If students have provided us with an email address, we will email details of any changes to their booked activities. Alternatively, we will call. We will also list changes on the website. It is a student’s responsibility to confirm that they have the correct details of a booked activity before it begins.
Each course or workshop needs a certain number of students in order to run. We make the decision about whether we are going to run each activity approximately two weeks before it starts or happens. In this scenario a full refund, course transfer or credit note will be offered. If you are intending to book onto a course, please make sure you do so in plenty of time, to help us avoid unnecessary cancellations.
A successful Poetry School activity depends on the respect, cooperation and mutual understanding of others. If, in the opinion of the tutor and Poetry School Executive Director, a student is behaving abusively, disrespectfully or in a discriminatory fashion, the Poetry School reserves the right to exclude the student from current and subsequent activities, with no fee refunds made.
If you can’t afford the full cost of taking part in Poetry School activities, we invite you to apply for a bursary to cover up to 75% of activity costs. The maximum you can apply for is £300 in any given year, though in exceptional circumstances we may be able to offer more. Priority is given to people who have not received financial support from us before. For more information and to apply for a bursary, visit the Bursary section on our website. The deadline for applications for each term’s bursaries is usually a month before the start of term; check our website and printed programmes for details.
The Poetry School Bursary Scheme is supported by the generosity of students and other donors, for which we are very grateful. If you’d like to donate to our bursaries scheme, please visit our Support Us page.
If you would like to spread the cost of your activities, we can split the fee into two or three monthly payments.
It is only in the rarest of circumstances that we can enrol students onto part of a course and charge them a pro rata reduced fee – please contact us for individual discussions about these circumstances.
We occasionally offer discounts on activities for new students or members of other poetry organisations. Only one discount is applicable per booking at any one time.
REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
If you cancel your booking more than four weeks before the start date of an activity, we will refund you.
If you cancel your booking less than four weeks before the start date, we will refund you but only if we can fill your place from a waiting list.

Any deposits you have made for activities that you cancel less than four weeks before the start date are non-refundable.
If we cancel a course, workshop, talk or reading, we will refund you in full.

If we cancel any activity for any reason and you would prefer not to receive a refund, we can credit your account with the amount paid which you can transfer to any other available and appropriate activity.
