Aldeburgh Festival Bandstand on the Beach: Helen Ivory and Martin Figura

Join the Poetry School at the Aldeburgh Festival Bandstand on the Beach for a fantastic free reading by Helen Ivory and Martin Figura.

The Bandstand on the Beach will be located on Aldeburgh beach, between the North and South Lookout Towers. Performances will take place from 1pm each day. The performance is free and no booking is required: just turn up!

Helen Ivory is a poet and visual artist.  She has won an Eric Gregory Award and her fourth Bloodaxe Books collection, the semi-autobiographical Waiting for Bluebeard was short-listed for the East Anglian Book Awards (2014). She received an Arts Council England Award to work on her fifth collection, The Anatomical Venus, which centres on women and otherness.

Martin Figura is a poet, teacher, retired army major, qualified accountant (winner of the 1976 RAPC Apprentice College Accounting Prize), Randy Newman fan and photographer; but mostly a poet.  He produced two new books last year:  Dr Zeeman’s Catastrophe Machine with Cinnamon Press and Shed with Gatehouse Press.
