We have partnered with Griots Well, offering eight of their runners up free spaces on our Autumn Term.

Griot’s Well is a one year poetry development programme for Black and ethnically diverse poets over the age of 25.

We’re excited to announce a new collaborative partnership with the brilliant Griots Well. We are offering their eight runners a free course as part of our upcoming Autumn term. The eight selected poets are part of a year-long poetry development programme involving access to masterclasses, a writing retreat, critique sessions, mentoring sessions and artist residencies. Delivered by Writerz and Scribez and supported by Arts Council England Griots Well provides an extensive programme of support for poets over the age of 25 from Black and ethnically diverse backgrounds. We’ve included some more information about this year’s scheme below.

Over the course of a year the selected eight poets will be supported through a range of activities including: 

Monthly critique workshops

Five Masterclasses

One-to-one mentoring

3 Day Writing Retreat

Paid Artist Residencies

The mentors on the programme are; Jasmine Cooray, Ajanae Dawkins and our tutors Tolu Agbelusi, and Rachel Long. Other artists include Kayo Chingonyi, Peter Kahn, Jacob Sam-La Rose, and Danez Smith.

Poetry School is proud to support Griots Well and looks forward to working with the runners-up this Autumn as well as engaging them in Poetry School events and opportunities throughout the year. Find out more here.
