The first Digital Poet in Residence of 2015

We’re elated to announce that poet, writer, film-maker and human tornado, Ross Sutherland, will be our next Digital Poet in Residence.

For his residency – ’30 Videos / 30 Poems’ – Ross will create thirty new films over March to April 2015, while he tours across the UK with his show Standby For Tape Backup. Each new film will be a synthesis of poetry and video, exploring the different ways that the two mediums can shape and influence the other. Ross will use his residency to respond to the places he visits and the people he meets while on tour, hence, the project also doubles as a video diary of a working poet in the world.

The CAMPUS community will also be encouraged to provide Ross with materials to respond to, as well as create their own works. You can join the ’30 Videos / 30 Poems’ group on CAMPUS right now.

Ross will be donning his battle armour from 9 March – tune into CAMPUS regularly for all the latest doings and happenings.

Ross Sutherland was born in Edinburgh in 1979. He was included in The Times’s list of Top Ten Literary Stars of 2008. He has four collections of poetry: Things To Do Before You Leave Town (2009), Twelve Nudes (2010), Hyakuretsu Kyaku (2011), and Emergency Window (2012), all published by Penned In The Margins. Ross is also a member of the poetry collective Aisle16 with whom he runs Homework, an evening of literary miscellany in East London. He has written several pieces for the stage, including The Three Stigmata of Pacman (2010) and the interactive theatre show, Comedian Dies In The Middle Of A Joke (2012). His new show, Standby For Tape Back-Up, will be on tour in late 2014/2015
