Keen observers of the Poetry School’s news reports will have noted that we have not yet announced a new Director for the organisation.
Ollie Dawson, our previous Director, has now moved to his new job, and the route to find his successor is one we’re taking slowly and carefully. Board, staff and tutor representatives are all involved in the recruitment process. We saw some great candidates and heard some fine ideas in our first round of recruitment, but unfortunately no one person had the right combination of skills and experience needed to take the Poetry School to its next level of development.
We’re now widening the search so we have the greatest field possible from which to select our new Director, and we hope to have that process completed by the beginning of next year.
Meanwhile, I’m combining my Head of Programmes role with that of Acting Director. The rest of the staff – Will, John, Maryam and James – and I will make sure that all our plans, classes and projects run smoothly over the next few months. Ollie is still offering some behind the scenes support, as is the Board, and we all look forward to making an announcement about a new permanent Director as soon as we can.
If you would like more details about what the Director’s job entails with a view to applying for the role or recommending a candidate, please contact me ([email protected]) in the first instance.
