All his adult life, Ira Lightman has been fascinated with The Cantos of Ezra Pound. Ira is currently writing a documentary for BBC Radio 4 on Ezra Pound after the 1929 Crash, and as part of his digital residency with The Poetry School, he will be using his research to compose a ’21st Century Canto’ of his very own, with some help from the CAMPUS community. Ira will be setting some warm-up exercises, considering the various techniques of the Cantos, looking at translation, exploring metre, and thinking about how we might better understand the Cantos now we too are in a cash poor, post-Crash era.
