\’A great day all round at the Doctors event on Saturday, thanks to all involved and all who attended & contributed to make it such an enjoyable occasion. In case anyone is keen to explore polar expedition tales in contemporary poetry, here’s a list of books which are either entirely devoted to that subject or which contain some good polar material .. some of which I drew on for my presentation — and I’m always on the hunt for more, so let me know if you come across any on your reading travels.

Sarah Lindsay. ’Twigs & Knucklebones’ (Copper Canyon Press, 2008)
Melinda Mueller. ’What the Ice Gets: Shackleton’s Antarctic Expedition 1914-1916’ (Van West & Co, 2000)
Elizabeth Bradfield. ’Approaching Ice: Poems’ (Persea Books, 2010)
Chris Orsman. ’South’ (Faber, 1999)
Bill Manhire. ’Collected Poems’ (Carcanet, 2001)
Katharine Coles. ’The Earth Is Not Flat’ (Red Hen Press, 2013)
Sheenagh Pugh. ’Stonelight’ (Seren, 1999)
Sheenagh Pugh. ’The Beautiful Lie’ (Seren, 2002)
Kona Macphee. ’What Long Miles’ (Bloodaxe, 2013)
Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch. ’Banjo’ (Picador, 2012)\’
