Right, apologies for the delay – have been waiting for a bit of quiet time. Always enjoy blackout poems and same for me, they definitely get things flowing when I’m stuck… Recently i’ve started doing ‘highlight’ poems in coffee-shops and only keep a copy on Facebook or wherever. Quite rough and ready, and you can’t undo highlighting ‘at’ when you meant ‘a’ sadly! This was from this morning – hope the pic comes out ok!

Thank you for the invitation to join this group Lydia… I have accepted your invitation and it will be with an enormous amount of interest that I shall do some reading up on this group and the inspiration behind it! It sounds very \”avant-garde\” which scares me just a little but hey…. we all need challenges in life and I am always open to something new and exciting! I don\’t promise to be able to give a lot to this group but I shall certainly do my very best!! What a lovely surprise for me this morning on turning on my computer to see your invitation! It is rather dull and rainy with me today and this has brought me a tiny little piece of proverbial sunshine, just like the pinpricks of golden profusion scattered in drifts through my window-pane, trumpeting spring\’s gentle unfolding. . Many thanks again and in the hope that you are \”at a good place\” with your own writing at present. As for me I have not had \”the Muse\” for quite a while now so perhaps this will shake me up and get the juices flowing again to use a rather dated cliche! I have loads of ideas on a typed-up list which I add to regularly but somehow life seems to conspire to never give me the time and space needed to sit down and feel the living impetus of \”creation\”! Best wishes for now!

I\’m recovering from a bad case of blue January writer\’s block and found that making a Blackout Poem was an effective way to free up my writing again, get the ideas flowing. I\’m wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences? Would be interested to hear from you…

Hi fellow Blackout Poets, I’m posting a couple of my recent attempts to start off this group.. The text I’m using is an old book called Taking the Cure by E S Turner which is a historic look at the use of water in healing. Much of the language is quite dated. I’ve added collage and images to some of my poems. They are difficult to photograph so hope you can read them. Looking forward to seeing your work.
