Safeguarding Training for Poets – Vulnerable Adults

Calling all poets, creative writing tutors, and workshop facilitators!

Join us for a half-day training course on safeguarding and awareness when working with vulnerable adults in creative writing contexts. This session will provide overview and insight into key issues in this topic, with focus on the following areas:

• Reflect on the definitions of what is a vulnerable adult
• Develop specific understanding of safeguarding adults at risk in practice
• Roles and responsibilities when working with vulnerable adults
• Introduction to relevant legal and social policy frameworks
• Look at specific safeguarding issues
• Identify local and national support agencies for vulnerable adults

This session is part of a full day of CPD for poets who teach (constituting a tax-deductible expense if you are self-employed!) and can be booked in partnership with the morning session on Safeguarding Children & Young People at a discounted rate of £30 in total using coupon code barnardos at the checkout.

We are pleased to be able to offer this training in partnership with Barnardo’s and all participants will receive a certificate for completing the session. Lunch will also be provided for participants who sign up for both the morning and afternoon classes.

Friday 29 November, 1.30–4.30pm.

All classes will be in our offices at 1 Dock Offices, Surrey Quays Road, Canada Water, SE16 2XU. The venue is a 2-minute walk from Canada Water Station.
