Safeguarding Training for Poets – Children & Young People

Calling all poets, creative writing tutors, and workshop facilitators!

Join us for a half-day training course on safeguarding and awareness when working with children and young people in creative writing contexts. This session will provide overview and insight into key issues in this topic, with focus on the following areas:

• Safeguarding roles and responsibilities
• Best practice around disclosures
• Concern, harm, abuse, and neglect
• Early help, support, and protection
• Sharing information and recording
• Staff behaviour
• Tutor wellbeing

This session is part of a full-day of CPD for poets who teach (constituting a tax-deductible expense if you are registered as self-employed!) and can be booked in partnership with the afternoon session on Safeguarding for Vulnerable Adults at a discounted rate of £30 in total using coupon code barnardos at the checkout.

We are pleased to be able to offer this training in partnership with Barnardo’s and all participants will receive a certificate for completing the session. Lunch will also be provided for participants who sign up for both the morning and afternoon classes.

Friday 29 November, 9.30am–12.30pm.

All classes will be in our offices at 1 Dock Offices, Surrey Quays Road, Canada Water, SE16 2XU. The venue is a 2-minute walk from Canada Water Station. Take the ‘Lower Road’ exit from the station onto Surrey Quays Road, then walk straight ahead, crossing over Deal Porters Way, and the Dock Offices come up on the left. The door for the school is at the far end of the building.
