Join MA tutor Tamar Yoseloff for a close examination of many styles and approaches to hone your skills and bring your poetry to new and exciting places!
* To ensure the safety of our tutors and students, this course will take place on video-conferencing platform, ZOOM *
Starting from Picasso’s suggestion that ‘great artists steal’, this course will prioritise close reading of selected poems as inspiration for new work of your own. Each week we will begin by analysing all aspects of a selected poem (works for discussion will be chosen from a broad range of periods and genres) and discuss its meanings, themes, structure, and technical aspects. The second half of each session will be devoted to workshopping participants’ poems, which will be informed by technical, linguistic, or thematic aspects of the previous weeks’ featured work. Through examination of other styles and approaches, we’ll expand our poetic knowledge, enhance our technical skills, and extend our writing into new realms.
10 weekly sessions on Tuesdays, 6.45–8.45pm, starts 4 May 2021. This is the third of a three-term course. Students from term two will be given priority booking for this course. General booking for any remaining places will open on 8 March.
More information about how all our face-to-face courses work can be found on the Face-to-Face courses page.
