Advanced Poetry Workshop with Shazea Quraishi (Autumn 2020)

Develop your writing through discussion, feedback, and writing prompts in this advanced workshop with Shazea Quraishi.

* To ensure the safety of our tutors and students, this course will take place on video-conferencing platform, ZOOM *

This course is for advanced writers of poetry. Each week, poets will benefit from in-depth discussion of their poems in a supportive environment. With a focus on editing and re-drafting your work, alongside wider discussions of themes, form and technical aspects of writing poetry, you will be encouraged to enquire into your personal poetics. Over the term the tutor will also set regular writing tasks and introduce you to a broad range of inspirational poetry to expand your practice, provoke discussion, and bring your writing up to the next level.

10 weekly sessions on Mondays, 6.45–8.45pm, starts 28 September. This is the first of a three-term course.

Please note: Entry to this course is by application only. If you would like to join please send a submission of three poems to [email protected] If you book online before applying we cannot guarantee that you will be granted entry to the course. ‘I really enjoyed Shazea’s programme, she led the group well, and was pertinent and probing of works throughout the course. She was keen to include the whole group, and created a positive dynamic. I would definitely book another course with Shazea again, and the content she selected was inspiring and helpful in my exploration of poetry.’
